The first generation, the V191, was designed with the Volkswagen Group and built at the joint venture Autoeuropa plant in Portugal, badge engineered as the Volkswagen Sharan and SEAT Alhambra. It used mostly Volkswagen engines, with Ford badges on the rocker covers, and was facelifted in 2000 and again in 2004. Its model years run from 1995 to 2005. The Galaxy was a seven seat people carrier that Ford built for the European market, sharing its platform with the Mondeo in its later forms.
