In 1996 a four wheel drive version with the VR6 engine became available, the Aspen gained body coloured bumpers and new hubcaps, and the Ghia X was added with the 2.3 litre petrol engine as standard, along with air conditioning and front fog lights. The Galaxy was a seven seat people carrier that Ford built for the European market, sharing its platform with the Mondeo in its later forms. It was slotted between the Tourneo Connect and the Tourneo Custom in the Ford range, and was the first Ford brand people carrier made outside North America.
