The fifth generation was built on the same platform as the fourth, with sharper styling lines, a larger cab and expanded engine options. Three trim levels were offered, renamed in 1970, when the Custom Cab became the Sport Custom, and a Ranger XLT later topped the range. The cab was 3 inches wider than before and the frame heavier. It was also built in Argentina from 1968 and in Brazil from 1972, and the Mercury M-Series ended in 1969. Each model year has its own page.
