Because federal regulations required all makers to fit side marker reflectors or lights, Ford redesigned the hood emblems of the 1968 F-Series to incorporate reflectors and added reflectors to the rear of the bed. Interior fittings changed because of new safety standards. New versions of the FE engine were added, the 360 for trucks and the 390, and 1968 was the first year of factory installed air conditioning. After 1968 the Low GVWR versions were discontinued.
