The second-generation RL, the North American version of the fourth-generation Honda Legend, arrived as a 2005 model in September 2004. It introduced Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, which sends torque not only forward and back but between the rear wheels. The 3.5 litre VTEC V6 gave 300 horsepower at first, and a major update for 2009 raised capacity to 3.7 litres, with smaller changes in 2011. The flagship was never a strong seller, and the RLX replaced it as Acura's lead model.
