The GT6 is the six cylinder sports coupe that Standard-Triumph built from 1966 to 1973, based on the popular Triumph Spitfire convertible. In early 1963 Giovanni Michelotti was commissioned to design a GT version of the Spitfire 4, and his fastback design was adopted by the Triumph racing programme for 1964, resulting in 1965 in 13th overall and a class win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was introduced in 1966, and the Mark II and Mark III improved the handling in 1969 and 1970. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 3 generations: the Mk I (1966 to 1968); the Mk II (1969 to 1970); the Mk III (1970 to 1973).
