Toyota redesigned the Vitz in early 2005, going on sale in Japan that February, and the second generation was marketed under the Yaris name worldwide from 2005 to 2013. European, Australian, Canadian, Mexican, Venezuelan and Puerto Rican markets received it near the end of 2005, and the production Yaris for the US market was unveiled at the Los Angeles show in January 2006. The Vitz also received a minor facelift in 2009, and the hatchback was discontinued in late 2013 for Asian markets.
