The S200 arrived in 2008 and was previewed by a Crown Hybrid Concept shown at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. It carried a world first, a center airbag, in 2009, and in February 2010 it was facelifted with a less smiling front grille, new headlamps and tail lights, new bumpers and technical revisions. The Crown continued as the mainstream sedan from Toyota in Japan, a role it had held since its introduction in 1955, and the S200 gave way to the fourteenth generation in December 2012.
