The second generation Avalon arrived for the 2000 model year and was a roomier car again built in Georgetown, Kentucky. It received a mid cycle facelift for the 2003 model year with a new grille and modified headlights and tail lights. In Japan it was sold as the Toyota Pronard, and in Australia an earlier Avalon had been built from April 2000 to June 2005, with updates in 2001 and 2003 before the Aurion replaced it in November 2006.
