The Avalon received a mid cycle facelift for the 2003 model year, with a new grille and modified headlights and tail lights. In Australia the 2003 facelift, the Mark III, failed to fix the lower than expected sales, and Toyota Australia unveiled an X-Runner concept coupe utility based on the Avalon at the Melbourne and Sydney shows. It was model year 4 of 5 in the Toyota Avalon (second generation, XX20), 2000 to 2004, coming after the 2002 model year and before the 2004 model year. Model year pages for the Toyota Avalon run from 1995 to 2026.
