Pontiac Fiero (Fiero, 1984 to 1988)

Automobiles

The Fiero was conceived as a small two seat sports car with all new suspension, which Pontiac engineers in 1978 sold to General Motors as a fuel efficient four cylinder commuter car that just happened to have two seats. Oversight went to Hulki Aldikacti, a mid engine layout was chosen to reduce drag and weight, and a deal reopened a shuttered plant in Pontiac, Michigan. It began production in August 1983 and ended with the 1988 model year, having sold well but with criticized performance. Its model years run from 1984 to 1988.
