The Diamante was Mitsubishi's near luxury car from 1990 to 2005. The first Japanese hardtop of May 1990 won Japan Car of the Year, and was made by splicing an extra 6.6 centimeters down the middle of the Galant. From 1996 the Diamante sold outside Japan was the Australian built Verada, and Mitsubishi Motors Australia was the source of all Diamante wagons. The name is Spanish, Portuguese and Italian for diamond, in homage to the three diamond badge. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 2 generations: the first generation (1990 to 1995); the second generation (1996 to 2005).
