A radical restyle followed with the presentation at the 2003 New York International Auto Show of a new Diamante adopting the then new corporate look. In Canada the Diamante was only sold from December 2003, for the 2004 model year only. The Australian made 2003 Diamante was exported to North America with the VR-X sporty variant. In Japan this vehicle was sold at the retail chain Car Plaza. The Diamante's platform was also used for the sporty Mitsubishi 3000GT.
