The 12 valve engine was fitted in the sedan and a 170 PS engine in the Australian built wagon, introduced in March 1993. The station wagon also became available during 1993, built in Australia for export. In Japan this vehicle was sold at the retail chain Car Plaza. The Diamante's platform was also used for the sporty Mitsubishi 3000GT.
