The XR4Ti kept the three door semi notchback hatchback body style of the European XR4i, with its triple side window profile and bi plane rear spoiler, on a unibody chassis modified to meet United States safety requirements. Altogether 850 unique parts were developed for the car destined for the United States and Canada, adding about 280 pounds. The only engine was a turbocharged 2.3 litre four cylinder. Its model years run from 1985 to 1989.
