Mercury Tracer (third generation)

Automobiles

For 1997 the third generation Mercury Tracer was released, sharing its redesign with the third generation Ford Escort. It kept the Mazda based chassis underpinnings of the previous generation but had an all new body and substantial revisions to the powertrain, and was no longer related to the Ford Laser. It was the only version assembled entirely in the United States, at Wayne Stamping and Assembly. Its model years run from 1997 to 1999.
