The sixth generation, the BF, was available at first only as a three or five door hatchback or a four door saloon, with the wagon added in November 1985 and a cabriolet in March 1986. A four wheel drive GT and GT-X version came in October 1985 and saw success in Group A rallying. For the United States the GLC name was replaced by 323 for 1987 and a personal coupe, the Etude, was added in January 1987. Its model years run from 1985 to 1988.
