The Jet rode on a welded unit body whose shells were made by an outside supplier, the Murray Corporation of Detroit, which agreed to spread the tooling expense over the production run. Under the hood sat a six cylinder flathead engine, a reworked version of an older Hudson design, with a twin carburetor option that outpowered the base engines of the Ford, Chevrolet and Plymouth lines. A three speed manual gearbox was standard, overdrive was optional, and GM supplied the automatic. Its model years run from 1953 to 1954.
