Hudson showed the Jet at the Hotel Astor in New York in December 1952, and it was the only brand new nameplate among the domestic automakers for the 1953 model year. It came in Standard and Super Jet trim as a two door or four door notchback sedan, quite unlike the sloped step down shape of the larger Hudsons, and it carried a generous list of standard fittings such as a heater and door locks that rivals charged extra for. United States production for the year reached 21,143 cars, short of what Hudson had hoped.
