The Square Bird added a rear seat and the features of a full size car to a mid size body, and sales rose to about four times those of the two seaters, with 198,191 sold over its three model years. It was the first Ford with unibody construction, together with the 1958 Lincolns, and it won Motor Trend's Car of the Year award, the first single model line to do so. It expanded the personal luxury car market. Each model year has its own page.
