A third tail light was added to each rear cluster for 1960, one of several trim changes in the last year of the Square Bird. Sales hit another record, with 92,843 units, which was the best figure in the Thunderbird's history up to that point and helped the three years of the generation total 198,191, about four times the sales of the earlier two seater. It was the last year of the Square Bird, which had won the Car of the Year award in 1958.
