The MS-6 shared the Cronos GE platform and was marketed as the sportier of the two cars, with a body of its own from the B pillar back and an integrated rear wing spoiler. Mazda was at the start of an ambitious five brand expansion plan to double sales. It was received well in Europe but poorly in Japan. It was sold in Japan by Mazda in a single model line, with engines from 1.8 to 2.5 liters and a diesel. Its model years run from 1991 to 1994.
