The new 1969 Polara wore a broad shouldered streamlined design, called the fuselage design, which would continue for five model years. New safety requirements included front seat head restraints. The Polara 500 model was reintroduced for the 1969 model year and positioned between the standard Polara and the top of the line Monaco. The standard engine was the 225 cubic inch slant six with optional 318, 383 and 440 cubic inch V8 engines available. Its model years run from 1969 to 1973.
