Chrysler 300 letter series (fourth generation)

Automobiles

The fourth generation introduced the more formal, angular crisp new custom look of 1963 on Chrysler's C platform, shared with the 300 Sport Series, Newport and New Yorker. To avoid confusion with the number one the letter I was skipped, so the first car of the generation became the 300J. The 300K of 1964 made the cross ram engine an extra cost option, lowered the base price by more than a thousand dollars by making leather upholstery optional, and set the series' best sales ever. Its model years run from 1963 to 1964.
