On 10 September 2021 the new second generation standalone Subaru WRX was revealed for the North American market, and the second generation WRX S4 for the Japanese market made its debut on 25 November 2021. On 14 October 2021 the second generation Levorg was introduced in Australia and New Zealand as the WRX Sportswagon and the WRX GT. The name WRX stands for World Rally eXperimental, according to Subaru. The car is known for its striking blue shade with gold alloy wheels, because of a sponsorship with a Singaporean cigarette manufacturer.
