The updated e-Skyactiv-X engine launched at the beginning of 2021 with 190 horsepower in Japan, and the 2.5 liter turbocharged petrol engine arrived in North America for the 2021 model year. Mild hybrid versions went on sale in Australia in November as the G20e and in the Philippines in October as the e-Skyactiv-G. Mazda South Africa stopped selling the sedan in September 2021, saying buyers there preferred compact crossovers.
