Subaru introduced the e-Boxer hybrid powertrain for the European market Forester and XV at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019. The 2019 model year Forester was awarded Top Safety Pick Plus by the IIHS. The fifth generation was in its first full year on sale, a compact crossover SUV with a 2.5 liter boxer engine. The Forester has been awarded Motor Trend's SUV of the Year for 2009 and 2014. Subaru of Indiana Automotive makes about half of all Subaru vehicles sold in North America.
