In February 2018 Subaru of America released a limited edition SOA 50th Anniversary BRZ based on the Limited trim, featuring Heritage Blue exterior color, satin chrome exterior trim and badging and an anniversary emblem. Only 250 were made. For 2018 onwards the Sports Car Club of America created the Solo Spec Coupe class for autocross using the 2013 to 2016 BRZ or Scion FR-S. The development code of the 2+2 was 086A, and the eight six references the historic AE86.
