The Exiga of 2017 was in its tenth year, soon to be discontinued in Japan in March 2018. It remained a seven seat mid size MPV with the Crossover 7 variant, and the name Exiga had been taken from two unrelated Subaru concept cars, the Alpha Exiga of 1995 and the Exiga of 1997. The Exiga is not classified as a compact MPV because its exterior dimensions are not in compliance with Japanese government regulations. Active Torque Split transmission is used on engines without a turbo, and VTD is used with the turbo.
