The MKZ Hybrid, Lincoln's first hybrid, was introduced for 2011 and went on sale in September 2010, with about 13,000 of the approximately 136,600 first generation MKZs made being hybrids. It was the only hybrid on the market priced the same as its gasoline variant, with a base price of 35,520 dollars. For 2011 an expanded THX and navigation specification included HD Radio and DTS Neural Surround. It was styled under Chief Designer Darrell Behmer and built at Hermosillo in Mexico.
