A Vincentric study of 25 hybrid vehicles of the 2012 model year found that the MKZ delivered the lowest five year total ownership costs compared with their traditionally powered counterparts. 2012 was the last year of the first generation, and Lincoln presented its replacement as the 2013 MKZ at the 2012 Detroit show, with the production version shown at the 2012 New York show. It was a mid size, four door, five passenger luxury sedan with front or all wheel drive.
