The Transit Connect was first shown in the United States at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show, ahead of its North American sales, and in Europe it carried on as the compact panel van that Ford Otosan built in Turkey. A North American variant was developed with the mid cycle facelift. The Transit Connect was Ford's compact panel van, developed by Ford of Europe as a dedicated commercial vehicle. It sat between the Transit Courier and the Transit Custom in the Ford Transit range.
