With the introduction of the 8.4 liter V10 engine in 2008, the Viper's power was raised from 500 to 600 horsepower, with better flowing heads, larger valves, variable valve timing on the exhaust cam lobes and a dual mass flywheel. The ZB II was distinguished from the ZB I by a vented engine cover, a new Tremec TR6060 transmission and a reworked exhaust that no longer crossed under the seats, and the electrical system was completely revised, with electronic throttles and a new engine management system.
