The Sambar of 2003 was in its fifth year of the sixth generation, a kei class cabover truck and microvan, with sliding doors and a width of 1,480 millimeters. The passenger Dias Wagon was released in 2000 as a passenger car version of the Sambar Dias, with four wheel drive and the supercharger option available. Later generations used the water cooled engine from the Subaru Rex, Vivio and the Pleo. The Sambar has used a rear engine, rear wheel drive layout with body on frame rather than unibody construction.
