The Sambar was facelifted in September 2002, November 2005 and again in September 2009. The Sambar of 2002 was in its fourth year of the sixth generation, a cabover truck and microvan with the 660 cc supercharged engine at 58 PS, and the passenger Dias Wagon version for four wheel drive. Later generations used the water cooled engine from the Subaru Rex, Vivio and the Pleo. The Sambar has used a rear engine, rear wheel drive layout with body on frame rather than unibody construction.
