For 2001 the Sebring Convertible front end was restyled to resemble the Sebring sedan, and continued to share its platform. The new sedan used the Chrysler JR platform, a successor to the Cirrus, and the coupe was based on the Mitsubishi Eclipse platform. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2001 to 2006 Sebring an Acceptable overall rating in frontal crash tests. The Sebring coupe was marketed in Canada for the 2001 model year.
