For 2000 Ford went back into the market for Class 6 and 7 trucks by extending the Super Duty line into the medium duty segment, and the F 250 Super Duty served as the basis of the Excursion sport utility vehicle from 2000 to 2005. The Super Duty was built at Louisville. The Super Duty is a dedicated heavy duty variant of the F Series, sold above the F 150 with Power Stroke diesel engines as an option. Ford assembles the trucks at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville and at Ohio Assembly in Avon Lake.
