1997 Ford Laser

Automobiles

The KM update followed in December 1997 for Australia. New Zealand did not receive it, and the KL carried on there alongside the European Escort, with local assembly at the Wiri VANZ plant ending in 1997 and the KL discontinued locally at the end of the year. Buyers in Australia and New Zealand often did not realise the Ford was based on the Mazda 323. The Laser was a Ford badged version of the Mazda Familia, and it was one of the smaller cars in the Ford range of that period.
