The four cylinder MX-3 RS was available in North America through the 1996 model year, the last on that market. In Australia the MX-3 was marketed as the Eunos 30X until late 1996, when it became the Mazda-Eunos 30X. Mazda referred to the car as a four seater, but the rear seats were designed for small passengers, so it was in effect a 2+2. The rear suspension was Mazda's Twin-Trapezoidal Link layout. The car had a 7,000 rpm redline and a quarter mile time of 16.4 seconds for the American GS.
