Justy models made in Japan were marketed in the United States for model years 1987 to 1994, and a five door 4WD model was available until 1994, with a 1995 model offered in Canada. The 1994 Justy was the last model year of the first generation, a subcompact hatchback that began as a stretched Rex kei car. In Taiwan Subaru marketed a version of the Justy with a sedan style body called the Tutto, assembled by their local partner Ta Ching.
