A facelifted AY Telstar appeared in Australia in August 1994, and New Zealand received it in late 1994. The Telstar Radisich, a limited run of 100 V6 sedans with tuned suspension and a body kit, named after the New Zealand racing driver Paul Radisich, was first sold in 1994. The Telstar was a Mazda 626 with Ford badges and some local styling, sold where Ford wanted a mid size car. Ford later replaced it in most markets with the Mondeo, which was developed as a world car.
