The Turkish car continued in production until 1994, when the Otosan Taunus ended and the Taunus name disappeared after fifty five years, ending a line begun in 1939 with the G93A. It had been produced by Ford Otosan since 1985, and by Ford Argentina from 1974. The Taunus was the family car of Ford Germany, sold under the 12M, 15M, 17M, 20M and 26M names over several generations. It was named after the Taunus mountain range in Germany and was often a close relative of a British Ford.
