For 1993 the Sable's steering wheel was redesigned, returning the horn to the center, and the passenger side airbag became standard. In 1992, for model year 1993, unpopular optional features such as the InstaClear heated windshield were eliminated. For 3.0 liter V6 engines the drive belt became a single belt setup for 1993, where the alternator had previously used a separate belt. It was the Mercury twin of the Ford Taurus.
