In 1991 the VE6 Transit was in its sixth year, awaiting the subtle facelift of 1992 that would bring fully independent front suspension across the range. The one box body, the Pinto petrol engines, the York diesels and the Cologne V6 formed the range, and the Transit still dominated the European van market. The Tourneo name, for a Transit based minibus, would appear in 1994. The VE6 was the second generation of the Transit platform, introduced in January 1986.
