The ST165 GT-Four made its World Rally debut in the 1988 Tour de Corse and finished sixth, and won its first victory in Cyprus that year, though that event was not a WRC round. In North America the Turbo All-Trac was available for the 1988 model year, and in May 1988 the Japanese 1S-iLU engine was replaced by the 4S-Fi. It was the last model year covered for the Toyota Celica (fourth generation, T160), 1985 to 1989, and the Toyota Celica (fifth generation, T180) came next, following the 1987 model year. Model year pages for the Toyota Celica run from 1970 to 2006.
