The MK1b upgrades arrived gradually, so that some 1987 cars kept the old flat front bumper and some early 1987 engines had the earlier blue top valve cover. It was model year 4 of 5 in the Toyota MR2 (first generation, W10), 1984 to 1988, coming after the 1986 model year and before the 1988 model year.
