In 1986 Toyota introduced a supercharged 4A-GZE engine for the MR2 in Japan, which would reach the US two years later, and the MR2 made Car and Driver's Ten Best list. The MK1b facelift appeared in August 1986, though Group B was cancelled that year, ending the 222D rally project. It was model year 3 of 5 in the Toyota MR2 (first generation, W10), 1984 to 1988, coming after the 1985 model year and before the 1987 model year. Model year pages for the Toyota MR2 run from 1984 to 2007.
