In September 1987 the Century received another light makeover, changing from a hydraulically operated three speed to an electronically operated four speed automatic transmission. Sales of the Century doubled from 1,027 in 1985 to 2,117 in 1989 during Japan's Bubble Economy. It was model year 7 of 10 in the Toyota Century (first generation, G20, G30 and G40), 1967 to 1996, coming after the 1986 model year and before the 1988 model year. Model year pages for the Toyota Century run from 1967 to 2025.
