In 1987 Chrysler and AMC agreed to add the Omni and Horizon to the contract, so production of the Horizon shifted to the AMC Kenosha plant in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Chrysler had introduced the Dodge Shadow and Plymouth Sundance hatchback sedans for 1987 to replace the model line. Following the 1987 model year the Plymouth Turismo was replaced by the Plymouth Sundance, and the Horizon continued as a five door hatchback.
