A facelifted AS Telstar arrived in Australia in September 1985, with new front and rear styling, a revised interior, better suspension, and the front turn signals moved into the bumper. Ford sold 20,982 Telstars in Australia that year, making it the eighth best selling nameplate, and the TX5 had moved to Japanese production in February. Ford later replaced it in most markets with the Mondeo, which was developed as a world car.
